Egyptian Cotton Wishes and Flannel Pajama Dreams

I seriously need to get my crap together. The kids have been in school for a week now, we have no tropical disturbances coming our way. It's time. Time to put a fire under my ass and get moving.

This is what my head keeps saying. My body, however, still doesn't quite understand why we're awake at 6:30 in the morning yet. All the coffee in the world isn't going to make me happy about being awake before 10. Heck, it's after 10 now and I know I could crawl into bed right now and fall fast asleep in a matter of seconds.

Tonight at 10? No such luck. I'll be wide awake and thinking of a billion things I need to do and I won't actually get myself into bed until after midnight. Then I'll toss and turn for a while and maybe think of some other thing I just HAVE to do and I'll get out of bed and do that. 6:30 comes really early after a few days of less than 6 hours of sleep.

I'll be doing my best to reprogram my body over the next week or so to not be horribly tired all morning. If anyone has any suggestions on how to make this less painful, I'd be glad to hear them. Right now that bed is looking mighty comfy... and a quiet house with no kids in it isn't helping.

Second cup of coffee, anyone?

I had a similar problem this summer when I was off school and sleeping late and taking naps. I just could not go to sleep at night; would lie there awake for hours. Not that I am in bed at 10 and up at 5 (or 6 if I reset the alarm and eat my breakfast in the car), I am sleeping great. I think the secret is a regular bedtime and regular get-up time.

I'll happily ship my kids, who are home due to that damn storm again today, to your house, then you won't be able to sleep. ;-P
ps I haven't adjusted either, it usually takes a good month for me to get back into the swing.

ugh... coffee just doesn't seem to work as well anymore. (at least not after 9 months of only at most 5 hours of continuous sleep.... this baby is just killin' me.)

crawl back to bed! take a nap... the kids are gone!

And that, in a nutshell, sums up my problem completely. You are not alone, my friend. Definitely not alone. I've been trying to reprogram for about 6 months now.

Ok try to drink a cup of tea before bed, no caffeine of course. Then when you remember something you need to do, write it down so you can do it when you get up in the morning.

These are just thoughts, no proven theories here. I would probably be in the same situation if I were not here at work forcing myself to stay awake at my desk. :)

I'm so there. I've learned that Starbucks will never adequately replace 8 hours of sleep....zzzzzz....

I so understand! I am tired all day and then 8 at night comes and I am wide awake ready to go.

I am glad I am not the only night owl. I am one of the lucky ones though my kids are not in school yet and don't get out of bed till 8 and I still have trouble coping with that!! I am awake till midnight most nights too and I attribute that to that fact the kids are asleep and I get ME time. I agree with Valerie and the list it has worked for me.
