Yesterday I was talking to my sister and I expressed my frustration with Munchkin's recent behavior. She reminded me of how good Munchkin is with her daughter, who we affectionately call Shwinks.
Shwinks is the youngest member of our family and was a wonderful surprise for my sister who had pretty much resolved that kids weren't going to be a part of her life. Funny how when we make those decisions something usually happens to let us know life's taking us on the ride, not the other way around.
Because my sister and her family live a couple hundred miles away from us, we don't see them all as much as we'd like to but when we do, Munchkin about loses her little mind over Shwinks. Maybe it's because she's a girl and she pretty much does what Munchkin tells her to do, I don't know... but what I do know is that they absolutely love each other.
Munchkin is patient with Shwinks, even though she's 3 1/2 years younger and sometimes can't quite keep up with the bigger kids. It's a quality in Munchkin that we don't normally see around here as she often lacks patience with her own little brother.
Maybe there's hope for this kid, yet. Perhaps a career as a kindergarten teacher?
